Style for the Millions with Mens Editorial Style Consultant Jeff Lack

A gorgeous interior space is created with time, love, and a keen eye. It’s not about how much money you can spend; it’s about using what you have to create a place that reflects you and truly feels like home.

That’s why at Lounge Lovers, we’re firm advocates of the fact that style is for the millions, not just the millionaires. Our ethos is simple: we believe everyone can achieve a million-dollar look in their home without the price tag — it just takes a spark of inspiration and a little styling advice from people who have been there, done that.

In our Style for the Millions series, we explore the homes of Aussies who have styled a gorgeous space without breaking the bank. For our latest episode, mens editorial stylist Jeff Lack (@jeff.lack) shows us how he’s created his flawless abode on a budget.

Make a grand entrance

With a big open area and tall ceilings, Jeff had the perfect blank canvas to style his space exactly the way he wanted. And the first thing he did was establish a sense of comfort with the Long Beach Corner Sofa in Bellevue Ivory.

“The couch is super comfy,” says Jeff. “It’s literally rock, paper, scissors to see who gets the best spot here! The corner of the chaise is really nice.”

Sitting centre stage in the living room, the Long Beach exudes a coastal charm while also inviting guests to sit down and relax. Meanwhile, the Tokyo Coffee Table acts as a focal point, drawing the eye in and adding a touch of designer flair to the room.

Long live the Long Beach: Deep feather-filled cushions and a low profile give the Long Beach Corner Sofa its quintessential relaxed feel. Add in the removable frame and replaceable covers, and you have a sofa that is guaranteed to stand the test of time.

Create distinct spaces within the room

Open floor plans often feel large and unwieldy, particularly if the space isn’t utilised well. To counteract this, Jeff has created two zones in his living space that feel distinctly separate from one another, yet meld together perfectly.

Alongside the Long Beach sofa, Jeff has incorporated the Fortuna Accent Chair and Tovia Side Table as a separate reading nook in the living room. This rattan duo adds a natural warmth to the area, while also providing just the right amount of contrast to feel like an additional section within the room.

“It’s a nice big space with open ceilings…then we’ve got these beautiful little armchairs with a side table as well. I love the architecture of [the Fortuna and Tovia],” says Jeff.

Trust in Tovia: Sporting a rattan frame and a glass top, the Tovia Side Table is endlessly versatile and effortlessly chic. Plus, the Tovia Rattan Natural Side Table is treated to withstand the elements, which makes it suitable for indoor and alfresco environments.

Nobody puts Bronte in the corner

If there’s one thing we can say beyond a doubt, it’s that the view from Jeff’s home is stunning — and he’s made the most of this view with his dining area.

Jeff has paired the Bronte Dining Table and Ark Wishbone Dining Chairs so that every guest at the table gets a stunning view out over the balcony. In tandem, the wooden bench on the other side of the table offers additional seating for guests or the ideal perch for a morning coffee, all without obstructing the striking view.

“We’ve had [the Bronte table and Ark dining chairs] for a couple of years now, and they’re really easy to style on any budget. Style really is for the millions, not just the millionaires,” says Jeff.

Bronte beauty: One of the best-sellers in the Lounge Lovers collection, the Bronte Dining Table is coastal chic personified. The natural wood finish gives this dining table its coastal charm, while the black legs add a modern, dramatic flair that’s sure to impress.

Tie the space together

The one thing we absolutely love about Jeff’s living and dining room? He’s brought it all together by incorporating the same materials in different places.

In addition to a Fortuna Armchair in the living area, Jeff has used a second Fortuna in the corner of his dining space to create a cozy reading nook. This repetition of rattan throughout the room creates a sense of flow and harmony between both zones, making the entire room feel like a cohesive space.

Fortuna favours the bold: Handmade by artisans in Indonesia, the Fortuna Armchair’s organic frame and neutral tones feel right at home in any coastal-inspired space. Best of all, the Fortuna is as low-maintenance as it gets: simply wipe it down with a warm wet cloth to keep the armchair looking its absolute best.
